FFA TODAY
The letters “FFA” once stood for Future Farmers of America. While these letters are a part of our history and our heritage. The name of our organization was updated in 1988 after a vote at national convention to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. FFA helps all members in any career they would like to pursue, whether it’s being a photographer, teacher, doctor, or even a computer coder. There’s always something for someone in FFA, no matter what their interests are. No matter what you like, no matter what you do or who you are, there is a spot for you in FFA.

Some of our chapter members had the amazing opportunity to visit the 95th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. At convention we got to watch one of our own chapter members, Josiah Cruikshank, finish his term as the national western region vice president. We got to enjoy many things that the National FFA offers for members while at convention. We watched sessions and retiring addresses, enjoyed the career fair and the shopping mall, and got to explore many attractions that Indianapolis has to offer. 2018 Fall Newsletter
With September now coming to a close, school is back in full swing, and so is the FFA. However before diving deep into all the exciting upcoming events & opportunities, we’d like to take a moment to congratulate all those who exhibited at the 2018 Deschutes County Fair & Oregon State Fair as well. Bend FFA members crushed it in market, breeding, showmanship classes with their livestock and small animal projects. We are proud to be a part of such a supportive community who helped The Deschutes County Youth Livestock Auction raised $1.3 million for Deschutes County youth! We also saw members succeed with static exhibits and in floriculture, livestock judging, and record books. Congratulations members, hard work pays off!
